This dish is quite simple to prepare using a few ingredients and a basic knowledge of cooking techniques. This recipe serves four people.

Things You'll Need

  • Large pot
  • Boiling water
  • Salt to taste
  • 1-pound box angel hair or fettuccini noodles
  • Large fry pan
  • Chef's knife
  • 1/4 cup salted butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup sliced baby portobello mushrooms
  • 1 pound washed chopped asparagus
  • Large spoon
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • White pepper to taste
  • Pinch of freshly grated nutmeg
  • 1-pound bag of frozen cooked medium to large shrimp, thawed
  • Colander
  • Pasta serving bowl
  • Grated Parmesan cheese
  • Fresh parsley, chopped

Pasta with Shrimp and Garlic Sauce

  1. Boil salted water in a large pot and prepare the pasta as directed on the package. This step will occur simultaneously with the preparation of the shrimp, vegetables and sauce.

  2. Melt the butter in a large frying pan over medium-hot heat and add the garlic, mushrooms and asparagus, stirring often until the asparagus is al dente (about halfway cooked).

  3. Add the heavy cream, salt, pepper and nutmeg to the vegetables and reduce heat. The cream will begin to thicken as it reduces. Stir often.

  4. Place the shrimp in a colander and rinse under cold water. Drain well. Add the shrimp to the vegetables and sauce, stirring to coat the shrimp and gently heat them through (approximately five minutes).

  5. Drain the pasta using the colander and place pasta in the serving bowl. Top pasta with the shrimp sauce. Sprinkle the dish with Parmesan cheese and freshly chopped parsley.
