How Do I Grill Shrimp on Skewers? (5 Steps)
There are many ways to cook shrimp, including steam, deep-fried, sauteed and grilled. When grilling, it isn't practical to place individual shrimp on the barbecue grill, as shrimp can easily slip off and into the fire. You can use a special rack, designed to hold the shrimp while it sets on the grill, or make a foil boat from aluminum foil, to hold the shrimp. To cook the shrimp directly on the grill, skewer the shrimp. This involves threading a number of shrimp onto a skewer. Before grilling, devein and peel the shrimp.
Things You'll Need
- Melted butter
- Pastry brush
- Tongs
Instructions
-
Soak the wooden skewers in warm water for 20 or 30 minutes.
-
Insert the sharp end of the skewer through one tail, and then through the opposite end. The curved shrimp allows you to push a skewer through two opposite ends of each shrimp.
-
Continue adding shrimp, until the skewer is full.
-
Brush the skewer of shrimp with melted butter, on both sides.
-
Place the skewer of shrimp on the grill, at medium-high heat. Turn after one or two minutes. Shrimp cooks fairly quickly. When the meat is white, and no longer transparent, it is cooked.
