What does a edible crab eat?
Edible crabs are opportunistic omnivores, meaning they'll eat a wide variety of things depending on what's available. Their diet includes:
* Mollusks: Clams, mussels, oysters, snails - they use their powerful claws to crush the shells.
* Other crustaceans: Smaller crabs, shrimp, barnacles.
* Worms: Earthworms, marine worms.
* Fish: Dead or injured fish, small fish they can catch.
* Algae: They'll graze on seaweed and other algae.
* Carrion: They scavenge on dead animals, acting as nature's clean-up crew.
Edible crabs are particularly known for their ability to crack open tough shells. They also have a keen sense of smell which helps them locate food.
