How to Cook Salmon in the Toaster Oven (7 Steps)

Salmon is often cooked at home because it is one of the healthiest foods you can eat. As well as having a high concentration of Omega-3 fatty acids, salmon contains protein, amino acid and bioactive peptides, known to support joint cartilage and digestion. If you have plenty of time, salmon can be slow roasted in the oven. However, if you are in a rush, salmon can be baked quickly in a toaster oven in less than 10 minutes using common household ingredients.

Things You'll Need

  • Toaster over
  • Salmon fillets
  • Baking tray
  • Parchment paper
  • Small bowl
  • Mortar and pestle
  • 2 tbsp. olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • Handful thyme
  • Pinch sea salt and pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat your toaster oven to 450 degrees Fahrenheit.

  2. Line a baking tray with greaseproof or parchment paper. This is to stop the salmon from sticking to the tray.

  3. Take a small bowl or mortar and pestle and mix together the olive oil, garlic, thyme, sea salt and pepper.

  4. Pour 1/4 of the mixture of herbs, olive oil and garlic onto the lined baking tray and spread thinly.

  5. Place the salmon fillets onto the baking try and cover them with the rest of the herbs, olive oil and garlic. Really rub the mixture into the salmon to get an effective taste.

  6. Open your toaster over and place the baking tray on the top rack for 4 to 8 minutes. Check every couple of minutes to see how well the salmon is cooking. If you like your salmon rare, you will need to take it out after 4 or 5 minutes. If you like it well done, you should leave the salmon fillet in for around 8 to 10 minutes.

  7. Take the salmon out of the oven and serve with a squeeze of lemon juice. New potatoes and fresh vegetables are good side combinations.
