Why do my chickens pick out the feathers of polish head?

Feather pecking is a common problem in chickens, and there are a number of reasons why they may do this. some include boredom, stress, inadequate diet and improper light.

Boredom:

Chickens are curious and active creatures, and if they are not provided with enough stimulation, they may start to pick at their feathers out of boredom. Providing them with toys, perches, and other things to keep them entertained can help to reduce feather pecking.

Stress:

Stress is another common cause of feather pecking. Stress can be caused by a number of factors, such as overcrowding, loud noises, or changes in routine. Providing chickens with a comfortable environment and minimizing stressors can help to reduce feather pecking.

Inadequate Diet:

A diet that is deficient in certain nutrients can also lead to feather pecking. Make sure that your chickens are getting a balanced diet that includes protein, carbohydrates, and vitamins and minerals.

Improper Light:

Chickens need a specific amount of light to stay healthy. If they are not getting enough light, they may start to pick at their feathers. Make sure that your chickens have access to at least 12 hours of light per day.
