What is the main difference between testes of mammals and poultry?

Testes of mammals

- Are located within the scrotal sacs outside the abdominal cavity.

- Have a seminiferous tubules structure.

- Produce spermatozoa and male sex hormones.

- Have a developed rete testis and epididymis for the maturation and storage of spermatozoa.

- Descended into the scrotum during fetal development.

Testes of poultry

- Are located inside the abdominal cavity near the kidneys.

- Have a lobulated structure.

- Produce spermatozoa and male sex hormones.

- Lack a developed rete testis and epididymis. Instead, they have convoluted seminiferous tubules that connect directly to the vas deferens.

- Remain within the abdominal cavity throughout the bird's life.
