Yummy Lunch Ideas With Ramen Noodles
Ramen noodles are an inexpensive, prepackaged Asian noodle dish that you can prepare quickly for any meal, including lunch. These tasty noodles can become boring if made in the traditional way, which is served alone with seasoning or as a soup. To spice up your lunchtime routine, serve your ramen in unexpected and yummy ways, incorporating healthy ingredients and different cooking techniques to prepare them.
Add Ingredients
-
By adding vegetables or proteins to your ramen noodles, you can create delicious creations that are also healthy. Previously steamed or stir-fried vegetables such as broccoli, cauliflower, bok choy, peas, green beans or carrots can all be warmed in the flavorful ramen broth right along with the noodles to add crunch and fiber to your lunch. Precooked chicken, beef, eggs or shrimp can also be heated in the broth or grilled separately before being sprinkled throughout the noodles to create a tasty meal. Other additions such as mushrooms or spicy peppers add flavor to the dish, along with a sprinkling of sesame seeds or croutons on top.
Lunch Wraps
-
An easy to eat and pack lunch is a tasty sandwich wrap. Instead of eating your ramen noodles alone or in a soup, prepare them as you normally would and drain away the broth. Wrap some flour tortillas around a few spoonfuls of the boiled and seasoned noodles or stir-fry them with some vegetables and meats first. Add a bit of lettuce and teriyaki or soy sauce for flavor. Use the sauce on the side to dip your wrap. You can also use rice paper to wrap your ramen to make little spring rolls. Eat them as is, or pan fry them before dipping them in sweet and sour sauce.
Ramen Burgers
-
While you might not associate ramen noodles with burgers, you can combine the two to make a "ramen burger," first created by Keizo Shimamoto, according to NBC News. Prepare your ramen noodles, draining them after boiling and sprinkling half of their seasoning on top. Mix the noodles with a beaten egg and form them into two round patties using bowls or ramekins. Fry the noodle patties on both sides into "buns" using a little vegetable oil until the noodles are nice and crisp. Place a burger, cooked the way you prefer using the remaining ramen seasoning, with or without cheese, between the ramen "buns." Top with some lettuce and teriyaki sauce or ketchup to create an unusual and tasty burger.
Lunch Salads
-
Include your ramen noodles in a lunch salad for a delicious and healthy meal. Put a few of your unboiled ramen noodles aside, along with the seasoning packet for them. Cook your remaining ramen noodles as directed. Combine your noodles with shredded cabbage or lettuce to make a salad. Add other ingredients such as snow peas, cucumbers, onions, celery, tomatoes or bell peppers to the mix. Make your salad dressing using oil and vinegar or mayonnaise along with the seasoning packet from the ramen noodles. Complete your lunch salad by adding pieces of grilled chicken and a sprinkle of the unboiled noodles on top for some crispiness.
