Things You'll Need
- Pork roast
- Roasting pan
- Marinade and spices
- Hickory wood chips
- Charcoal and starter fluid (for charcoal grills)
- Meat thermometer
- Oven thermometer
Instructions
-
Marinate the pork for a few hours before cooking. After marinating, rub some spices on the outside of the roast.
-
Place charcoal in grill, squirt on starter fluid and light the grill, if you are using a charcoal grill. Ignite the grill if using a gas grill. Allow the grill to heat up to a temperature of 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Use an oven thermometer to check the temperature.
-
Put the roast in a roasting pan and cover the bottom of the pan with about an inch of water. Place the pan on the grill.
-
Put some hickory wood chips into the fire in the grill. This will give your roast a wonderful hickory flavor. Close the lid and allow the roast to cook. The roast should cook for 20 minutes per pound or to an internal temperature of at least 170 degrees.
-
Keep a small amount of water in the pan at all times, or the pan will burn. Keep the grill temperature at 350 as much as possible. Gas grills are much easier to control temperature than charcoal grills.
-
When the roast is done, remove from grill, cut and serve.
