Is a Betta fish cold blooded or hot?

Betta fish are cold-blooded, also known as ectothermic. This means their body temperature is regulated by their surrounding environment.

Here's why:

* They don't internally regulate temperature: Unlike mammals and birds, Bettas don't have a stable internal temperature. Their body temperature fluctuates with the water temperature.

* They rely on their environment: To stay warm, they need to be in warmer water. To cool down, they need to be in cooler water. This is why it's crucial to keep their tank at a specific temperature range (78-82°F).

So, while a Betta fish might feel "warm" to the touch, they are not generating their own heat like a mammal or bird. They are simply reflecting the temperature of their surroundings.
