Why is your black moor fish turning orange?

It is unlikely that a true black moor goldfish would turn orange. However, there are a few goldfish varieties that can be mistaken for black moors that may change colors.

Ryunkin goldfish: These fish are often confused for black moors. However, they have a more elongated body and they may start out black and turn orange as they age.

Orandas: Orandas have a wen, or fleshy growth on their heads, which can obscure their true color. They may also start out black and turn orange as they age.

Telescope eye goldfish: Telescope eye goldfish have large, protruding eyes which can hide their true color. They may also start out black and turn orange as they age.

If your goldfish is truly a black moor, it is unlikely that it will turn orange. However, if it is a different variety of goldfish, it may change colors as it ages.
