What do craw fish eat in the water?

Crawfish are omnivorous and opportunistic feeders, meaning they will eat whatever is available to them. Their diet consists of a wide variety of plants and animals, including:

- Aquatic plants, such as algae, duckweed, and water hyacinths

- Small fish, such as minnows and shad

- Insects, such as beetles, crickets, and grasshoppers

- Snails and worms

- Tadpoles and frogs

- Carrion

Crawfish also eat dead or dying fish and plants, which helps to clean the water and keep the ecosystem healthy.

In addition to their regular diet, crawfish will also scavenge for food. They will often eat dead animals or plants that they find on the bottom of the waterbody or along the shore. Crawfish are also attracted to light, and they will often congregate near lights at night to feed on insects that are attracted to the light.
