Should beet pulp be fed wet or dry to horses?

Beet pulp is most often fed dry to horses.

However, wet beet pulp can be fed to horses, but it is important to introduce it gradually to avoid digestive upset. Wet beet pulp is approximately 88-90% moisture whereas dry beet pulp is approximately 10% moisture. Wet beet pulp contains the same amount of DE and crude fiber as dry beet pulp, on a matter dry matter basis. The lower energy density can be desirable in some situations while the higher moisture can be beneficial for horses that do not drink enough water or that are in hot environments.
