What is maracas pitch?

The maracas is an idiophone percussion instrument that produces a high-pitched, rhythmic sound. It consists of two small gourds or hollowed-out sections of wood that are fitted with handles and filled with seeds, gravel, or beads. When the maracas are shaken, the filling material strikes against the internal surface of the gourds, producing a rattling sound. The pitch of the maracas is determined by the size and shape of the gourds, as well as the type of filling material used. Larger gourds will produce a lower pitch, while smaller gourds will produce a higher pitch. Heavier filling materials, such as gravel or seeds, will also produce a lower pitch, while lighter filling materials, such as beads or rice, will produce a higher pitch.
