How old are crepes?
The earliest known crepe-like pancakes date back to the 5th century BC in ancient Greece, where they were called "tagenias" or "teganites". This type of pancake was popular among athletes during the Olympic Games and was often filled with cheese, honey, or fruit.
In medieval France, crepes became known as "crêpes" and were often served as a dessert or snack. They were popular among the nobility and were often filled with sweet or savory ingredients such as cheese, ham, or mushrooms.
In the 17th century, crepes were introduced to the Americas by French settlers and quickly became a popular breakfast food. Today, crepes are enjoyed all over the world and can be found in many different varieties.
