How do you make a yule log?
To make a yule log, you will need the following ingredients:
* 1 cup all-purpose flour
* 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
* 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
* 1/4 teaspoon salt
* 2 large eggs
* 1 cup granulated sugar
* 1/2 cup milk
* 1/4 cup vegetable oil
* 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
* 1/4 cup chocolate chips (optional)
Instructions:
1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x13 inch baking pan.
2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
3. In a large bowl, beat the eggs and sugar together until light and fluffy. Beat in the milk, oil, and vanilla extract.
4. Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until just combined. Do not overmix.
5. If desired, fold in the chocolate chips.
6. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
7. Let the cake cool completely in the pan before frosting.
For the frosting, you will need the following ingredients:
* 1/2 cup butter, softened
* 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
* 1/4 cup milk
* 3 cups confectioners' sugar
* 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions:
1. In a medium bowl, cream the butter and cocoa powder together until light and fluffy.
2. Add the milk and mix until combined.
3. Add the confectioners' sugar and vanilla extract and mix until smooth.
4. Once the cake has cooled completely, spread the frosting on top.
5. You can decorate the yule log with additional chocolate chips, sprinkles, or powdered sugar.
6. Cut the yule log into slices and serve.
