How do you treat the flu for guinea pigs?

There is no cure or effective treatment for the flu (respiratory viruses) in guinea pigs. Treatment will consist of supportive care like:

- Isolating the guinea pig to prevent the spread of infection

- Providing a warm and draft-free environment

- Offering soft, palatable foods including fresh vegetables, hay, and pellets

- Encouraging the sick pig to eat and drink

- Administering fluids (subcutaneous or oral) in cases of severe dehydration

- Providing antibiotic therapy in secondary cases and bacterial pneumonia

-Administering anti-inflammatories and pain management, if needed

- Oxygen therapy is necessary in severe cases
