Where was tea first drunk?
While the exact origin of tea drinking is difficult to pinpoint, it is widely believed that tea was first drunk in China.
The earliest evidence suggests tea drinking began in Southwest China, specifically in the Sichuan province, around 2,700 years ago.
However, it's important to note that early tea consumption likely involved chewing the leaves rather than brewing them as a beverage. The practice of brewing tea is thought to have developed later, during the Tang Dynasty (618-907 AD).
From China, tea spread to other parts of Asia and eventually the world, becoming a beloved beverage enjoyed by millions.
