Is there blue dye in black licorice?
Black licorice does not typically contain blue dye. The black color of licorice comes from the root of the licorice plant, which contains a compound called glycyrrhizin. This compound is responsible for the characteristic sweet and slightly bitter taste of licorice. Some licorice candies may also contain other natural or artificial colors, such as brown or red, but blue dye is not a common ingredient.
