How to Make Green Iced Tea Sweetened with Stevia Recipe
Stevia is a sweet herb that is Generally Recognized As Safe, GRAS, by the USDA. It is about three to 200 times as sweet as normal sugar. It has other health benefits beyond the fact that it's a low-calorie alternative to regular sugar -- it may help prevent tumors and inflammation. However, if you are taking diabetic or blood pressure medications, check with your doctor before switching to stevia.
Things You'll Need
- 2 Green tea bags
- 2 Regular tea bags
- 2 1/2 Tablespoons stevia
- Water
- Large pot
Instructions
-
Place the four tea bags in a pot of water set to boil on the stove. Turn the heat to high. When the water comes to a boil, turn off stove and remove the pot from the heat.
-
Add the stevia to a large pitcher. Remove the tea bags from the pot. Pour the tea mixture into the pitcher. Stir to combine the tea and stevia.
-
Fill the rest of the pitcher with water when the stevia is fully mixed, after about a minute of stirring. Place the pitcher in the fridge and allow the flavors time to develop as the tea cools.
