What happens when you freeze reddi whip?

When you freeze Reddi-whip, the nitrous oxide and cream separate. The nitrous oxide gas forms bubbles in the cream and causes it to expand, so the can swells up. If the can swells up too much, it can burst. The cream also becomes very hard, so it is difficult to squeeze out of the can. Reddi-Whip should not be frozen.
