How do eagles drink water?

Eagles do not drink by gulping water like many other animals do. Instead, they use their beaks to scoop up small amounts of water, tilt their heads back and let the water flow into their throats. They usually dip their beaks in a freshwater source like a river or a lake. Sometimes, eagles may collect droplets of water during rainfall if other bodies of water are inaccessible. Eagles generally avoid consuming saltwater due to its excessive salt content, despite their ability to tolerate saline environments. In their daily lives, eagles obtain all the hydration they need from the fluids present in the food they consume, like blood, body fluids, and digestive liquids of their prey. However, there might be rare occasions when these majestic birds are seen engaging in the conventional way of drinking water when the need arises.
