Why do carbonated drinks make us burp?
When we drink a carbonated beverage, like soda, we're also swallowing carbon dioxide gas. This gas is what gives these beverages their bubbles and refreshing taste. But when the gas reaches our stomachs, it starts to expand due to the warmer temperature. This expansion creates a pressure build-up, and our bodies naturally relieve it by burping.
Burping is the process of expelling gas from the stomach through the mouth. It's a natural reflex that helps release excess gas and reduce the discomfort caused by gas build-up. When we burp after drinking carbonated drinks, we're simply releasing the carbon dioxide gas that has accumulated in our stomachs.
