Why Hawaiian punch require refrigeration on the label?

Hawaiian Punch does not require refrigeration until after it is opened. The unopened juice is shelf-stable and does not need to be refrigerated until it is opened. Once the container has been opened, it must be refrigerated and consumed within 10-14 days.
