The claim that "alcohol dehydrates you" is not entirely true. While it is true that alcohol inhibits the release of antidiuretic hormone, which helps the kidneys retain water, the diuretic effect of alcohol is offset by the fact that alcohol is itself a fluid. In addition, moderate consumption of alcohol has been shown to have some health benefits.
