What does Coca-Cola stand for?
The name "Coca-Cola" is derived from two of the product's original ingredients: coca leaves and kola nuts. Coca leaves are native to South America and were used by indigenous people for centuries as a stimulant. Kola nuts are native to Africa and were also used as a stimulant. When John S. Pemberton, a pharmacist from Atlanta, Georgia, created the original Coca-Cola recipe in 1886, he included extracts of both coca leaves and kola nuts. The name "Coca-Cola" was chosen to reflect these ingredients.
