How did people manage to get a hold of alcohol in the 1920s?

During the years that the United States was under prohibition, which lasted from 1920 to 1933, there were a number of ways that people managed to get their hands on alcohol. Some of the most common methods included:

- Bootlegging: This was the most common way to obtain alcohol during Prohibition. Bootleggers would produce and/or smuggle alcohol into the United States, and then sell it illegally.

- Rum-Running: This was the term used for the smuggling of alcohol into the United States from Canada and other countries. Rum-runners would often use fast boats to transport alcohol across the border.

- Moonshining: This was the practice of making moonshine, or homemade alcohol. Moonshine was often made in rural areas, and it could be dangerous to both make and drink due to the risks of moonshine being improperly distilled.

- Illegal breweries and distilleries: Despite Prohibition, there were still some breweries and distilleries that continued to operate illegally. These businesses would often bribe government officials to allow them to operate.

- Prescriptions from doctors: Some people were able to get hold of alcohol by getting a prescription from a doctor. Doctors were allowed to prescribe alcohol for medicinal purposes, and some patients would use this loophole to get their hands on alcohol.
