Types of Smirnoff Vodka
Smirnoff was founded in Moscow in the 1860s by Pyotr Smirnov. The brand was the number one choice in Russia until political and social turmoil in the 1920s required Pyotr's son, Vladimir, to flee and reestablish the company in Turkey. Since then, Smirnoff has made its way into more than 130 countries around the world. Hundreds of products are available; however, the variety of products available depends on the country. The Smirnoff products available in the United States include classic vodka, flavored vodka and mixed and malted drinks.
No. 21
-
Smirnoff No. 21, also known as the Red Label, is the classic triple distilled vodka that first made the company famous. The New York Times rates Smirnoff as the best classic vodka for both taste and smooth texture. No. 21 can be used in virtually any cocktail requiring vodka.
No. 57
-
Smirnoff No. 57, sometimes referred to as Blue Label due to the color of the label, is the brand's most robust vodka available at 100 proof. No. 57 is dry, crisp and smooth and is best enjoyed in a dry martini or a classic vodka tonic so that the clarity of the vodka shines through.
Flavors
-
Smirnoff carries a line of fruit-flavored vodkas used for martinis and specialty drinks. The fruit flavor is subtle and is referred to as a "twist." All Smirnoff "flavors" contain the No. 21 vodka base. The flavors include raspberry, blueberry, strawberry, vanilla, watermelon, black cherry, citrus, cranberry and green apple.
Ice
-
The Smirnoff Ice vodka varieties are mixed drinks ready to be consumed straight out of the bottle. Ice contains a combination of vodka, carbonated soda or lemon lime juice, sugar and possible flavors. They are usually sold in bottle-capped bottles and consumed just as one would consume a beer.
Ice Flavors
-
Smirnoff Ice is available in a variety of mostly tropical flavors including green apple, passion fruit, mango, strawberry açaí, raspberry burst, wild grape and pineapple.
Malt Mixed Drinks
-
The most recent addition to the Smirnoff vodka line is the series of malted mixed drinks. The idea behind the malted mixed drinks is to present a classic and self-contained cocktail in one bottle. Each malted mixed drink contains 5.8 percent alcohol by volume and can be purchased in six-pack containers. Flavors include classic lemonade, blueberry lemonade and cranberry and lime.
