Drinks With Finlandia Grapefruit Vodka

The greyhound cocktail, a simple concoction of vodka and grapefruit juice, has been around for decades. Originally made with gin, the drink is now commonly made with vodka along with its salty-rimmed sibling, the salty dog. As part of the flavored vodka wave of the mid-2000s, Finnish vodka maker Finlandia introduced its Grapefruit Fusion vodka. Finlandia’s Grapefruit Fusion vodka can give your greyhounds and salty dogs an extra kick, or enhance other cocktails with grapefruit flavoring.

Finlandia Bonfire

  • Get out the muddling gear and limber up the wrists to make this citrus-infused cocktail with an injection of fizz. A recommended drink by the makers of Finlandia vodka, the Finlandia Bonfire requires a little prep and some showing off with the shaker. Place four freshly cut lime wedges in a mixing tin and add a large splash of simple syrup. Muddle the lime wedges and syrup. Add 2 oz. of Finlandia Grapefruit Fusion vodka and 4 oz. each of ginger ale and cranberry juice. Add a scoop of ice, place the lid on the mixing tin, and shake. Pour the shaken contents into a highball glass and garnish with a lime.

Thank You With Love

  • The Thank You With Love won an award for best quick mix cocktail at the 2009 Finlandia Vodka Cup in Helsinki, Finland, where bartenders from around the world came to compete and display their drink-making prowess. Fill a glass with ice and pour in 3 oz. of Finlandia Grapefruit Fusion vodka, 3 oz. of pomegranate juice and 1 oz. of simple syrup. Stir it up and garnish with three pink grapefruit slices.

Grape Expectations

  • Don’t let the name fool you. There is nothing purple in this drink and the flavor is pure grapefruit with a fuzzy splash of peach. The Australian-born cocktail is a takeoff on the classic greyhound cocktail and utilizes the Finlandia Grapefruit Fusion’s blend of acidity and sweetness. Fill a glass with ice and add one part peach schnapps, two parts pink grapefruit juice and three parts Finlandia Grapefruit Fusion vodka. Stir it up and garnish with a lime wedge for a splash of color. Following this ratio you can adapt the recipe for volume and serve the drink strained as a martini or make a pitcher to share with friends.
