How to Inject a Watermelon With Vodka
You can spike watermelon with as much or as little vodka as you desire, with more vodka obviously making a more potent snack. When injecting your watermelon with vodka, leave plenty of time for the alcohol to soak in and the fruit to cool before serving it.
Things You'll Need
- One whole watermelon
- 750 ml vodka
- Funnel
- Cooking knife
Instructions
-
Use a cooking knife to cut a small, round hole in your watermelon. The hole should be wide enough and deep enough to fit the funnel and remove the cut piece. Keep the rind portion to plug the hole later.
-
Insert the funnel into the hole.
-
Pour enough vodka to fill the funnel and let it sit until the watermelon absorbs the liquid. This may take a few minutes so be patient. Repeat this step until all the desired vodka has been absorbed into the watermelon. The more vodka you put in, the more potent the treat will become and the more the watermelon flesh will taste like vodka.
-
Plug the hole in the watermelon with the rind plug.
-
Stabilize the watermelon and put it in the refrigerator for several hours, overnight if possible, to allow it to chill and the alcohol to settle.
-
Serve the vodka-spiked watermelon by either cutting it into slices or in small balls, whichever you prefer.
