How to Measure a Finger of Scotch
A finger of Scotch is an informal measurement of the whisky equal to approximately 1 fluid ounce. This method basically uses the width of your finger to measure how much Scotch whisky you've poured into a glass. Because finger sizes vary, this obviously isn't an accurate measurement. If you choose to add ice, do so after measuring out the drink.
Instructions
-
Wrap your hand around an empty rocks glass, tumbler or highball glass.
-
Position the bottom of your ring finger of the hand holding the glass parallel with the bottom of the glass. Your middle finger should be level with the bottom of the inside of the glass.
-
Pour the Scotch in the glass until it is level with the top of your middle finger.
