How to Flavor a Bottle of Vodka with Peaches
Vodka is one of the easiest spirits to infuse because its natural odor and flavor will not interfere with the infusing ingredients. Most sweet fruit, including peaches, require only proper preparation before the infusion process -- and the better the fruit is prepared with more of its flesh exposed, the quicker the infusion will be. Make your own peach-flavored vodka to cut down on expensive specialty liquors and to add your own twist to your cocktails.
Things You'll Need
- Saucepan
- Water
- Peaches
- Bowl
- Strainer
- Knife or vegetable peeler
- Glass container with resealable lid
- Vodka
Instructions
-
Fill a saucepan halfway with water, then put on the stove over high heat. Allow the water to come to a boil.
-
Place the peaches in a tempered glass bowl, cover them with the boiling water, then let them sit for 35 to 45 seconds to blanch the fruit.
-
Pour the contents of the bowl including the peaches through a strainer, then rinse with cold water to cool the peaches. Once cooled, peel the peaches with a knife or vegetable peeler, then cut the peaches into long, thin slices.
-
Place the peaches into a clean, resealable glass jar, then top the slices with vodka, pouring one 750-ml bottle of vodka for every two whole peaches. Seal the container.
-
Place the container in the refrigerator for up to five days to allow the peaches to infuse the vodka. Strain the peaches from the container, then place the container back into the refrigerator for up to three months.
