What is the difference between fresh concentrated apple juice and long life juice?

Fresh concentrated apple juice is made from freshly pressed apples, with the water removed to create a concentrated syrup. Long life juice, also known as UHT (ultra-high temperature) juice, is made from apple juice that has been heated to a very high temperature for a short period to kill any harmful bacteria.

* Taste: Fresh concentrated apple juice has a sweeter, more pronounced apple flavour, as it is made from 100% pure apple juice. Long life juice often contains added sugars or flavourings to enhance the taste.

* Nutritional value: Fresh concentrated apple juice retains more of the vitamins and nutrients from the apples, as it is not heated to as high a temperature as long life juice. Long life juice may have added vitamins or minerals to restore those lost during processing.

* Shelf life: Fresh concentrated apple juice must be kept refrigerated and has a shorter shelf life of around 2-3 days once opened. Long life juice can be stored at room temperature and has a much longer shelf life, typically up to 12 months.

* Packaging: Fresh concentrated apple juice is usually sold in glass bottles or cartons that must be refrigerated. Long life juice is often packaged in Tetra Pak or other shelf-stable containers.
