How to Mix a Dirty Banana

Mix up a tall glass of Caribbean decadence with one of the islands' signature cocktails -- the dirty banana. The banana part of the name is literal, while the dirty part comes from the coffee liqueur laced through the sweet fruit flavors. This frothy concoction packs a little more punch than the flavor suggests, so sip slowly and drink responsibly.

Things You'll Need

  • Blender
  • Ice
  • Milk
  • Coconut cream
  • Coffee liqueur
  • Rum
  • Banana, peeled and sliced
  • Ice cream, optional
  • Chocolate syrup, optional
  • Tall glass
  • Pineapple wedge or cherry, optional

Instructions

  1. Fill the bottom of your blender loosely with ice. Don't pack it in tightly or the blades may not move freely.

  2. Add equal amounts of milk and coconut cream. The proportions don't have to be exact, but 1 ounce of each is good for a single drink.

  3. Pour in equal amounts -- about 1.5 ounces per drink -- of coffee liqueur and rum.

  4. Drop in one banana, peeled and sliced.

  5. Cover the blender and whir until all of the ingredients are blended and smooth. Pour into a tall glass and garnish with a pineapple wedge or a cherry -- or go wild and add both.
