How to Make a Raspberry Cosmopolitan (6 Steps)

Make your way into any trendy bar, and chances are you will see at least one person sipping a cosmopolitan. This ubiquitous party cocktail can take many flavors--lemon, pomegranate, apple and even raspberry. The classic recipe for a raspberry cosmopolitan uses raspberry-flavored vodka, cranberry juice, lime juice and triple sec. Make sure you have the right glasses available--cosmopolitans are always served in a martini glass.

Things You'll Need

  • Cocktail shaker
  • Cocktail strainer
  • Measuring cup or shot glass
  • Ice
  • Martini glasses
  • Raspberry-flavored vodka
  • Cranberry juice
  • Lime juice
  • Triple sec
  • Fresh raspberries

Instructions

  1. Place a martini glass in the freezer to chill. Put a cup of ice in a large cocktail shaker.

  2. Add two ounces of any raspberry-flavored vodka to the shaker. Many brands make a raspberry vodka, including Stolichnaya and Absolut.

  3. Add one ounce of cranberry juice and a half-ounce of lime juice to the cocktail shaker. Fresh lime juice will taste the best, but bottled lime juice is also acceptable.

  4. Add half an ounce of triple sec as well. Replace the top on the cocktail shaker and shake vigorously until the ingredients are mixed.

  5. Remove your martini glass from the freezer and place a cocktail strainer over the mouth of the shaker. Slowly pour the cocktail into the glass, taking care to catch the ice with the strainer.

  6. Garnish with two or three fresh raspberries. Make sure your raspberries are clean and add them right into the drink.
