What Drinks Can I Make With Banana Rum?

Rum is one of the most common alcohols. Today, you can find many flavors of rum, including coconut, mango and banana. Banana rum has a distinctive tropical feel. You can mix it with different alcohols and juices to create tasty cocktails that are smooth and refreshing. With the right mix of flavors, banana rum can transport you to your own tropical paradise.

Banana Colada

  • A banana colada is a twist on the traditional pina colada. The drink requires a bit of planning ahead. Peel and slice four bananas into small rounds. Place them in a freezer-safe storage container in the freezer and leave them for four to six hours, or until they are thoroughly frozen. Once they are frozen, place the bananas, 1 cup of pineapple juice and a 14-ounce can of cream of coconut into a blender. Pour in 1 ounce of banana rum. Place the lid on the blender and blend on your preferred drink setting until you reach a consistency that you are happy with. If you want a thicker drink, add a few ice cubes to the blender and blend again. Serve in a glass with a slice of banana on top. If you want a stronger rum flavor, add an additional ounce of banana rum to the recipe. This makes about four servings.

Voodoo Juice

  • This recipe mixes a variety of flavored rums together. Place 1 ounce each of banana, orange, coconut and pineapple rums into a metal drink shaker. Add 1.5 ounces each of cranberry, orange and pineapple juices. Add a glass onto the top of your shaker and hold both the glass and shaker firmly as you shake the drink about 10 times to mix it. Pour the rum and juice mixture into a glass of ice. Pour a half-ounce of dark rum on top of the drink as a floater to serve. Floaters are alcohols that you pour just on top of the drink to add dynamic colors and flavors. This makes one drink.

Southern Bahama Mama

  • A Bahama Mama is traditionally made with coconut rum, cherry syrup, orange and pineapple juices. By changing the recipe slightly, you will get a refreshing twist on an old favorite. Place 1 ounce of coconut rum, a half-ounce each of light and dark rums and 1 ounce of 100-proof banana rum into a larger pitcher. Stir in 3 ounces each of banana juice and pineapple juice. Once the mixture is thoroughly mixed, pour it into a glass with ice. Slice an orange into thin rounds and use the rounds to garnish the side of the glass. This makes about six servings.
