How do you use a coffee bodum?
To use a coffee bodum, also known as a French press or cafetière, follow these steps:
1. Grind your coffee beans. For a bodum, use a coarse grind.
2. Add the ground coffee to the bodum. The general ratio is 1 tablespoon of coffee for every 4 ounces of water. Adjust the amount of coffee to your personal preference.
3. Add hot water to the bodum. The water should be just below boiling, around 200°F (95°C). Fill the bodum to the desired level, leaving some room at the top for the coffee to expand.
4. Stir the coffee grounds and water gently with a spoon to ensure even saturation.
5. Place the plunger unit on top of the bodum, but do not press it down yet. This allows the coffee to "bloom" and release its aromas.
6. Let the coffee brew for 4 to 5 minutes. The ideal brewing time may vary slightly depending on your coffee and personal preferences.
7. After the brewing time is complete, slowly and gently press down on the plunger unit to separate the coffee grounds from the brewed coffee.
8. Pour and enjoy your freshly brewed bodum coffee!
