How to Use a Mr. Coffee IDS50 Grinder
The Mr. Coffee IDS50 is an inexpensive coffee grinder with a 2.3-ounce capacity. You can grind enough beans for 12 cups of coffee at one time. The safety switch on the unit is designed so that the blades will not move unless the lid is properly secured with the switch in its track. The deep lid can hold all of the coffee grounds when you've finished grinding, so you can transfer them easily to the coffee maker.
Things You'll Need
- Mr. Coffee IDS50 Grinder
- Measuring scoop
- Coffee beans
- Cloth or paper towel
- Warm, soapy water
Instructions
-
Wipe the blades, grinding bowl and cover with a lint-free cloth before using. Make sure the machine is not plugged in while you do this.
-
Remove the cover and measure enough beans for the amount of coffee you want to brew, using the scoop that came with your coffee grinder. Use 1.5 scoops of coffee beans to grind into three tablespoons of coffee grounds, which is enough for two 5-ounce cups of coffee. Put the beans into the grinding bowl.
-
Place the cover back onto the grinder and plug in the unit.
-
Hold the cover on and press the safety switch down into its track, holding it for nine seconds for a regular grind using 5.5 scoops of beans. For a drip grind, hold the switch down for 15 seconds using 5.5 scoops of beans. For an espresso grind, hold it down for 12 to 15 seconds using 3 scoops of beans. If you are grinding a smaller amount of coffee beans, you can grind for less time.
-
Release the switch and wait at least 10 seconds for the blades to stop completely. Unplug the unit.
-
Secure the cover with one hand and turn the grinder upside down. Tap the bottom of the unit lightly to make sure all the grounds fall into the cover.
-
Remove the cover while the unit is upside down, and pour the grounds into your coffee-maker.
