How to Make Kahlua and Coffee
Whether you’re dressing up your coffee on a Saturday morning or looking for a way to loosen up — and keep going — on Friday night, the Kahlua and coffee combo is classically simple. The amounts given here are guidelines. Feel free to adjust them to suit your tastes.
Ingredients
-
- 1/2-to- 2 ounces Kahlua coffee liqueur
- 8 ounces brewed coffee
- Whipped cream (optional)
Directions
-
Pour the desired amount of Kahlua into a warm coffee mug. For a hint of sweetness and liqueur, stick to 1/2 ounce. If you like your coffee cocktails stronger, add 1 or 2 ounces.
Top with brewed coffee and stir to combine.
Garnish with whipped cream (optional).
Tips
-
This is a simple recipe that allows for a wide range of interpretations and customizations.
Replace brewed coffee with iced coffee.
Make Mexican Kahlua and coffee: Add 1/2 ounce of tequila to the Kahlua before adding the coffee. Garnish with whipped cream and a sprinkle of cinnamon.
Make it a mocha by adding chocolate syrup — or chocolate liqueur — to your coffee. Sprinkle with cocoa.
Make a Kahlua cappuccino. Brew two shots of espresso. Add them to 1 ounce of Kahlua and top with frothed milk.
Warnings
-
Never drive if you’ve been drinking and always drink responsibly.
Don’t add extra sweetener to this drink, even if you typically enjoy coffee with cream and sugar. The Kahlua adds enough sweetness to replace the sugar.
