The Best Way to Brew Jamaican Blue Coffee

Various methods of coffee makers are available to help you make a great cup of coffee. Jamaica Blue Mountain Coffee recommends coffee be brewed with water that is 195 to 200 degrees F. The water should sit in the coffee for four to six minutes. The best way to do this is with a French press, but that method can be time-consuming. Most people use a drip coffee maker in their homes for ease of use.

Things You'll Need

  • Burr coffee grinder
  • Drip coffee pot
  • Coffee filters
  • Carafe

Instructions

  1. Grind fresh Jamaica Blue Mountain Coffee beans. Use 2 tbsp. of whole beans for each 8-oz cup of coffee you intend to brew. A burr grinder is the best kind because it gives consistent sized granules. Grind it on a coarse setting.

  2. Wet a paper drip coffee maker filter and put it in the coffee basket. This removes some of the paper taste from your coffee.

  3. Place the ground coffee into the paper filter. Use a spoon to scoop out any that remain in the bottom of the grinder.

  4. Fill the water receptacle in the drip coffee maker with cold, filtered or bottled water up to the line for the amount of coffee you intend to brew. Your tap water may have chemicals that will alter the taste of your coffee.

  5. Turn the coffee maker on. When it is done brewing, immediately transfer the hot coffee to an insulated carafe. If allowed to sit on the hot plate, the coffee will continue to cook and it will acquire a burnt taste.
