Can You Make Martinis With Coconut Rum & Vanilla Vodka?
Vodka is a clear distilled alcohol that takes on the flavor of any infusion you add to it. It's available in a wide range of flavors from banana and black cherry to chocolate, caramel and vanilla. Rum is also available in numerous flavors, ranging from coffee and spice to coconut. You can pair vanilla vodka and coconut-flavored rum. In fact, there are a variety of ways to pair the two to echo desserts such as coconut cream pie and cake with coconut buttercream frosting.
Wedding Cake Martini
-
Let your friends eat cake -- and drink up the taste as well with a martini that evokes the flavor of a traditional wedding cake. Fill a cocktail shaker half full with ice cubes. Pour three parts vanilla vodka to one part coconut rum into the shaker. Next, add three parts pineapple juice and a splash of grenadine syrup to the mix. Cover the shaker and shake well, and then strain the martini into a glass and serve.
Coconut Martini
-
If you're nutty about all things coconut, you should certainly try a coconut martini. To prepare, first toast some coconut flakes in your oven at 300 degrees Fahrenheit for 20 minutes, stirring the flakes every five minutes or so. Fill a cocktail shaker about half full with ice -- and add equal parts white rum, coconut rum and vanilla vodka. Next, add one-third part either coconut cream or coconut milk to the mixture. Shake well and strain into a glass. Garnish with cooled toasted coconut flakes.
Caribbean Martini
-
To take a trip to the islands without having to leave home, use vanilla vodka and coconut rum to create a Caribbean martini. First, find yourself a ripe pineapple -- and clean and slice it. Pour one part coconut rum, two parts vanilla vodka and a dash of pineapple juice into a cocktail shaker that's half filled with ice. Cover the shaker and shake well, and then strain into a glass and serve. Garnish with a slice of your fresh pineapple.
Key Lime Martini
-
If Key lime pie is one of your favorite desserts, you're likely to enjoy a Key lime martini. To prepare, fill your cocktail shaker half full of ice before adding this equal parts coconut rum and vanilla vodka. Next, add a half part lime juice -- make it Key lime juice if you can find it. Cover the shaker and shake thoroughly. Strain into a glass and garnish with a slice of lime.
