How to Prebake Mini Pie Shells (5 Steps)
Ever heard the expression easy as pie? Baking mini pie shells is just that easy. A mini pie shell is a pie crust baked in mini tins, which can be purchased at most kitchen supply stores. Mini pie shells are usually baked in a group, then filled so you can serve individual pies to friends and family, instead of slices. Prebaking the shells will ensure the crust is cooked all the way through when baking the pies.
Things You'll Need
- Pie tins
- Cooking spray
- Crust dough
- Kitchen scissors
- Baking pan
- Pie filling
Instructions
-
Spray each mini pie tie with nonstick cooking spray. Press pre-made crust dough into each shell and trim off any dough hanging over the shells with a pair of kitchen scissors.
-
Lay the pie tins onto a baking pan. Fill the bottom of the pan with about a half-inch of water, which will help the heat be evenly distributed.
-
Place the baking pan in an oven preheated to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Cook for about half the time of the instructions for the dough you're using, about 10 minutes or until the crust just looks golden.
-
Pull the pan out of the oven and fill each pie crust with the filling you're using. Put the pan back in the oven and cook until the filling is bubbling.
-
Remove the pan from the oven and let mini pies cool about 15 minutes before serving.
