How was dark chocolate made?

Step 1: Harvest the cocoa beans.

Cocoa beans are the seeds of the cocoa fruit, which grows in tropical regions around the world. The beans are harvested by hand or by machine, and then fermented and dried.

Step 2: Roast the cocoa beans.

The cocoa beans are roasted in a large roasting machine. This brings out their flavor and aroma.

Step 3: Grind the cocoa beans.

The roasted cocoa beans are ground into a fine powder, called cocoa mass.

Step 4: Press the cocoa mass.

The cocoa mass is pressed to extract the cocoa butter. This leaves behind the cocoa solids.

Step 5: Add sugar and other ingredients.

Sugar, milk solids, and other ingredients are added to the cocoa solids. The mixture is then heated and stirred until it is smooth.

Step 6: Temper the chocolate.

Tempering is a process that stabilizes the chocolate and gives it a glossy sheen. The chocolate is heated and then cooled, until it reaches the right temperature.

Step 7: Mold the chocolate.

The tempered chocolate is poured into molds and allowed to cool and harden.

Step 8: Package the chocolate.

The chocolate is packaged and stored in a cool, dry place.
