How does salt dissolve oil?
Salt (table salt, or sodium chloride) is not capable of dissolving oil. Instead, oil and water are immiscible, meaning they do not mix. If oil and water are shaken together, they will form a temporary emulsion, but the oil and water will eventually separate again.
