Who invented Kit Kat candy?

The Kit Kat candy bar was invented by Rowntree's, a British confectionery company, in 1935.

However, the story is a bit more complex than just one inventor:

* The original "Kit Kat" was a chocolate wafer biscuit called "Rowntree's Chocolate Crisp" that was launched in 1911.

* The iconic two-fingered format we know today came about in 1935 when Rowntree's began packaging the chocolate crisp in a breakable bar with the slogan "Have a break, have a Kit Kat".

* The name "Kit Kat" itself is believed to have been inspired by a nearby theater called the "Kit-Cat Club" or a nearby inn with a similar name.

So, while Rowntree's can be credited with the invention of the modern Kit Kat, the specific origins of the name and the two-finger format are more complicated.
