How long does it take to make rock candy?
Rock candy can take several days to weeks to fully form crystals, depending on the size and shape of the crystals you are trying to create. The process generally involves mixing sugar and water in a heatproof container and stirring until the sugar is completely dissolved. Food colouring or flavouring can be added at this point if desired. The mixture is then heated until it reaches a temperature of around 250 degrees Fahrenheit (120 degrees Celsius). Once the mixture has cooled to around 150 degrees Fahrenheit (65 degrees Celsius), the container should be covered with a paper towel or cheesecloth and set aside in a warm place where the crystals can grow undisturbed. The crystals will start to form on the sides of the container after a few days and will continue to grow until they reach the desired size.
