Can corn syrup be substituted for dextrose in a candy recipe?

No. The chemical and physical properties of corn syrup and dextrose are very different. Because corn syrup is much sweeter than dextrose yet less soluble at high concentrations, it will greatly alter the taste, texture, and appearance of the candy.
