How do you make caramel?
To make caramel, you will need:
* 1 cup granulated sugar
* 1/4 cup water
* 1 tablespoon light corn syrup
* 1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
* 1/2 cup heavy cream
* 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, cut into small pieces
Instructions:
1. In a medium saucepan, combine the sugar, water, corn syrup, and cream of tartar.
2. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly.
3. Reduce the heat to low and simmer the mixture for 5-7 minutes, or until it has reached a deep amber color.
4. Remove the saucepan from the heat and carefully add the heavy cream.
5. Stir the mixture until the cream is fully incorporated.
6. Add the butter and stir until it has melted.
7. Pour the caramel into a heatproof bowl and let it cool completely.
Caramel can be used as a topping for desserts, such as ice cream, cakes, and pies. It can also be used as a filling for pastries and candies.
