How to Store Candy Apples
When you store candy apples you have to keep two different foods fresh: the candy shell and the apple. Hard-candy coatings keep almost indefinitely, but the apple inside doesn't have so long, especially if there is a gap where the stick enters. If there is a gap, you can keep the apple about three days in the refrigerator; if you seal around the stick's entry point with candy, caramel or chocolate, you can keep the apple about two weeks if you prevent as much oxygen from getting to it as you can.
Things You'll Need
- Wax paper
- Plastic wrap
- Cellophane (optional)
Instructions
-
Place a 12-inch-by-12-inch piece of wax paper on the work surface. Position the candy apple stick-side upward on the wax paper.
-
Bring the four corners of the wax paper together and them around the stick tightly. Wrap the apple with a couple layers of plastic wrap.
-
Store the apples in the refrigerator up to two weeks.
