Homemade Hand Cream Using Baby Lotion (5 Steps)

Baby lotion is smooth, creamy and gently formulated for use on an infant's skin. Customizing it so your adult skin can benefit from it serves as an easy way to make homemade skin creams at home. This easy craft is cost-friendly and allows you to replenish dry, aged or cracked skin.

Things You'll Need

  • 2 oz. baby lotion
  • 1 tbsp. soy butter
  • 20 drops essential oil
  • Glass bowl
  • Stirrer
  • 4 oz. jar

Instructions

  1. Add the soy butter to the glass bowl. Soy butter contains vegetable proteins that add moisture to your skin and elasticity. It can be purchased from craft and hobby-supply shops or online.

  2. Microwave the bowl for a full minute to melt the butter.

  3. Add the baby lotion to the bowl. Stir it thoroughly for two to three minutes. As the lotion cools it will thicken into a luxurious cream. Use any brand of baby lotion.

  4. Stir in the essential oil. Depending on your skin needs, you can use chamomile for relaxation, lavender for a tingling sensation or honey for added moisture. Also, essential oils add natural fragrance to the cream.

  5. Pour the warm cream into the jar and let it cool to room temperature before securing the lid.
