What Tools and Supplies Do You Need to Make Candy Bouquets?
Candy bouquets are the edible equivalent of a floral bouquet. To make the arrangement you need to have in mind the color scheme and look you are trying to achieve. You can create hand-held candy bouquets or you can create large, elaborate variations to be used as centerpiece decorations.
Candy
-
Making a candy bouquet means the focus of the design and final arrangement is candy. For hand-held bouquets, choose candy that comes on a stick, such as lollipops, rock candy and chocolate lollipops. For bouquets presented in a container, select tall items such as those on a stick and add additional candy to the display. Use any candy that is hard and wrapped.
Container or Binding
-
Hand-held bouquets need to have the candy "stems" bound together to keep everything in place. Using a color-coordinated ribbon or cord that matches or contrasts with the candy makes for a good presentation. For larger displays, such as those to be used as centerpieces, opt for a glass bowl or vase. You can fill the bottom of the bowl or vase with shredded paper, loose candy or tissue paper. Examples include using black shredded paper in the base of the container with red lollipops for a nice color contrast. Clear rock candy used at the bottom of a vase provides the illusion of water and compliments a multi-colored candy selection.
Decorations
-
Decorating the bouquet is where you can get creative. For a lollipop bouquet you could add additional string and ribbons to the arrangement to make it more detailed. For container-based bouquets use other candy as decoration by securing wrapped candy to pieces of pipe cleaner and adding it to the mix. Adding touches such as edible flowers and sugar-coated leaves is another way to make your candy bouquet stand out from other types of arrangements.
